Boston is not only filled with universities and students, hospitals and doctors, it is filled with dogs and their humans. Each week I receive at least one inquiry for a sale or rental of a pet friendly property. No longer just a suburban pet, the urban dog is welcome in many places – in certain outdoor patio dining, in private dog parks, and in some designated areas of public places. The services for these pets are innumerable – dog boutiques for accessories and natural food items; doggie day care with transportation; daily walks; overnight vacation services, and in home veterinary calls.
Many condominium buildings along Boston’s Waterfront are pet friendly. As a lover of dogs, I do everything in my power to find a home for my wonderful canine residents and their people.
Here is a current list of some of the pet friendly buildings in the Waterfront:
Intercontinental: Owners and Tenants
Rowes Wharf: Owners only with Management approval
Harbor Towers: Owners only
Commercial Wharf: Owners and Tenants
Lewis Wharf: No Dogs
Mariner: Owners and Tenants
Bulfinch: Owners and Tenants
Union Wharf: Owners only
Lincoln Wharf: No Dogs
Burroughs Wharf: Owners and Tenants with Restriction
Battery Wharf: Owners and Tenants
In part of a 4th of July tradition, the U.S.S. Constitution raised its colors, hoisted its sails and left port from the Charlestown Navy Yard for its annual turnaround. ”Old Ironsides” is the oldest vessel still commissioned in the United States Naval fleet.
In the Boston Harbor last Monday, the warship sailed along the Boston Waterfront until it reached Castle Island where its crew conducted a 21-gun salute from its battery of canons before turning around and returning to its home for another year. Here’s a video of this year’s event. Doesn’t get any more patriotic than this… Happy Birthday, America.
CL Waterfront Properties is please to announce that one of our properties was selected by the Wall Street Journal to be featured as their House of the Day! The Wall Street Journal selects properties that are architecturally extraordinary and unusual homes for sale to feature in their prestigious ‘House of the Day’ gallery.
This gorgeous Boston Waterfront condo in the Mariner Building was featured in New England Home, on cable television, and in The Boston Globe because of its one-of-kind deck-garden, which adds additional dimension to this exquisite home.
The U-shaped patio has been converted into a number of outdoors ‘rooms’, creating an inviting extension of their home that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the Waterfront views, or entertaining guests. There is a breakfast nook, living room, dining room, and garden area, all designed and landscaped by the current owners.
Each of the planters in the Waterfront Patio Garden were custom-made with over three-quarter inch insulation to protect the plants from cold spells. The planters were delivered by crane to the deck, and the two-zone irrigation system took over 80 hours to install!
This indoor space of this luxury residence is just as impressive! The kitchen features mahogany cabinetry, marble counter tops, top-of-the-line appliances, a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator, and more!
The living room has a large picture window with direct views of Boston Harbor and a stainless steel wood burning fireplace. The bathrooms are both luxuriously designed with marble, custom vanities, and designer fixtures. This 1,654 square foot home was been wired throughout for audio and visual entertainment and designed to maximize light and views.

The featured article went on to spotlight some of the home’s most luxurious features, depicting the beautifully decorated Boston condo and emphasizing the listing’s abundant light. Cindy Bailen of Boston Homes went on to describe the exquisite landscaped gardens and large wraparound deck, and spoke with CL Waterfront’s president, Carmela Laurella, about the Boston waterfront property.

As beautiful as the outside of this listing is, there’s even more beauty to behold in the interior. Real estate tends to run inverse to both interest rates and availability of credit.
With today’s mortgage rates at historic lows and following a correction of historical magnitude, at this point in time, I would suggest that real estate represents a fair value.

I would further suggest that with both mortgage rates and prices down, that investing in a new home is as affordable as it’s ever been in the U.S.
One final thought would be that the primary footpath of Boston’s Waterfront is basically built. They won’t be making any more and there is scarcity value in that alone…
