Our very own Lincoln Wharf on the Boston Waterfront was featured in the WCVB-TV BOSTON feature segment, “Recycled Boston”, a series about the stories of historical buildings around Boston and how they became revitalized.
The news story delves into the building’s rich history and the architect who made its rebirth possible, Bob Verrier.
Lincoln Wharf, built in 1901, was once the power plant for the MBTA that generated the power for the once-elevated railways. It had four large boilers that were about hundred twenty feet high, from ceiling to floor. With that much height and space, Verrier and his team envisioned the Wharf could support 10 new floors.
Through ingenuity and hardwork, they brought the wharf to life into what it is today. Now home to nearly two hundred waterfront condos and boasting breath-taking harbor views from its windows and balconies.

When Channel 5 News decided to do a feature segment on Boston’s many “recycled” properties, buildings which have been converted from their original use rather than demolished to make way for new construction, Lincoln Wharf was an obvious choice. Built in 1901 at 357 Commercial Street in Boston to house the MTA’s generators, the building was redeveloped in 1987 to preserve the historic space and provide a unique setting for some of the city’s finest Waterfront luxury condos.
CL Waterfront Properties sold 12 listings in Lincoln Wharf last year, and has two under contract at present.
We also are proud to offer unit #405, a stunning 2 bedroom condo with large, arched windows and a renovated kitchen with a breakfast bar. Lincoln Wharf is home to some of Boston’s finest Waterfront luxury condos, and unit #405 at Lincoln Wharf is a fantastic example.
Chronicle’s feature on ‘recycled spaces’ airs Friday, March 30th at 7:30pm.

Boston.com recently reported that Boston’s downtown condominium market rose by more than 22 percent in the third quarter as home buyers gained confidence in the city’s core residential areas according to data released by the Listing Information Network, a company that tracks the downtown real estate market. Condo sales in the Waterfront/North End continued to strengthen in October, as 15 properties closed with a total sales volume of $15,184,000. The average sale price for the month was $1,084,000, which is considerably higher than October 2010 when the average sale price was only $767,000.

Boston is not only filled with universities and students, hospitals and doctors, it is filled with dogs and their humans. Each week I receive at least one inquiry for a sale or rental of a pet friendly property. No longer just a suburban pet, the urban dog is welcome in many places – in certain outdoor patio dining, in private dog parks, and in some designated areas of public places. The services for these pets are innumerable – dog boutiques for accessories and natural food items; doggie day care with transportation; daily walks; overnight vacation services, and in home veterinary calls.
Many condominium buildings along Boston’s Waterfront are pet friendly. As a lover of dogs, I do everything in my power to find a home for my wonderful canine residents and their people.
Here is a current list of some of the pet friendly buildings in the Waterfront:
Intercontinental: Owners and Tenants
Rowes Wharf: Owners only with Management approval
Harbor Towers: Owners only
Commercial Wharf: Owners and Tenants
Lewis Wharf: No Dogs
Mariner: Owners and Tenants
Bulfinch: Owners and Tenants
Union Wharf: Owners only
Lincoln Wharf: No Dogs
Burroughs Wharf: Owners and Tenants with Restriction
Battery Wharf: Owners and Tenants
In part of a 4th of July tradition, the U.S.S. Constitution raised its colors, hoisted its sails and left port from the Charlestown Navy Yard for its annual turnaround. ”Old Ironsides” is the oldest vessel still commissioned in the United States Naval fleet.
In the Boston Harbor last Monday, the warship sailed along the Boston Waterfront until it reached Castle Island where its crew conducted a 21-gun salute from its battery of canons before turning around and returning to its home for another year. Here’s a video of this year’s event. Doesn’t get any more patriotic than this… Happy Birthday, America.
